Hawai'i has the highest number of children born with hearing loss at 4/1000. The national average is 2/1000. Less than 50% of children who are identified with a hearing loss receive services due to loss of follow-up, geographic challenges, lack of resources, etc.
Deaf Education Awareness Foundation (DEAF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit arm of Hawai'i Hears, LLC. D.E.A.F. educates and supports families and professionals to bring language to children who are deaf or hard of hearing in Hawai'i.
We provide weekly 1:1 services for children who are deaf and their families for language development, speech, auditory skills, and academic learning. We support family needs through regular education and counseling.
Your donation allows us to continue our services free to families.
Helen Keller said, "Blindness separates people from people. Deafness separates people from people."
Thank you for supporting families to be able to connect and communicate with their children who are deaf and hard of hearing.
